Nicole Ari Parker (born Nicole Ari Parker) is an American actress that works in television, film and the theatre. She's best known as Teri Joe, a fiery lawyer from the Showtime series Soul Food. The actress is known under her husband's name, Nikki Kodjoe. While growing up within Baltimore, Maryland, she was always fascinated by acting. When she participated in the Maryland high school contest in her early years of schooling, she won the prize for the most outstanding actress. In addition to her work as a theater actress as well as with 'The Washington Ballet Company. She earned the degree of Acting at New York University. She received a lot of praise after her debut large part on The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love. Later came films such as 'Boogie Nights Spark & Blue Streak. Contractor, who was raised by his parents in Nigeria and Mumbai when he was seven, had traveled around all over the world and had a taste of various cultures while growing up. After boarding school, over seven years London Her family then moved to Toronto Canada in which she lived for much of her early years as well as her early years of adulthood. Contractor was a classical ballet student in Toronto. She also excelled academically. She attended the Etobicoke School of the Arts, a high school for the arts that was specifically designed to be a school that taught more than just dance but also drama. Contractor began acting at age 16, following nearly 10 years of dance. Following her graduation from high school Contractor received a scholarship from The University of Toronto to pursue an undergraduate degree in sociology and psychology. In addition, she obtained an advanced degree in theatre. Contractor attended the highly-regarded Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Ontario, Canada, for Pericles. After one full year, she was given the lead part. The show she played in 92 performances received acclaim from Canadian theater critics. She was invited to enroll in Stratford's conservatory, a program which allows just four men and eight women are able to take a 20 weeks crash training in classical theater. Contractor got a confirmed place for the next season. She was also offered the part of Hermia.
